Phylum Chaetognatha - Arrow Worms

The arrow worms are long, slender planktonic animals. They are equipped with lateral fins which aid in gliding through the water and with several pairs of long spines on the head which aid in food capture. They generally prefer saline water to brackish water but may occasionally be found in the bays when the salinity is high. They are voracious predators on plankters.
