PADI is the leading certification agency for recreational
scuba diving. Open Water certification enables the diver to buy and rent scuba
equipment, and to dive without instructor supervision. Learning to dive
is fun and can be accomplished by anyone who is at least 10 years old,
able to swim, and reasonably comfortable in the water.
The PADI Open Water Diver
course begins with viewing the PADI Open Water Diver Video and completing the Knowledge Reviews in the PADI Open Water Diver Manual. Use of diving equipment and diving skills are then practiced during confined water dives in a swimming pool. Learning how to apply
the newly acquired knowledge and skills in a dive environment are then practiced during four open water dives, over two days.

Monte Lee Thornton, PADI Master Instructor and Irene Scott Thornton, PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer offer the PADI Open Water Diver certification
course with flexible schedules that can be tailored to meet your needs. Varying degrees of independent study
is made easy through the use of the Open Water Diver Manual,
and DVD. Confined water dives under the instructor's guidance, are conducted in nearby swimming pools. Open water dives are within easy driving distance, at a variety
of locations in Cayman Islands, or by special arrangements at a tropical resort.

Fees
are consistent with those charged by local dive shops. We will be happy
to provide all equipment items such as mask, snorkel, fins, dive boots, weight belt, BCD, regulator, and tank
for your use during the course. This will allow you to learn about the equipment features, benefits, and differences before you purchase any gear of your own.
Most dive resorts have rental equipment available for everything you need to go diving.
The PADI Open Water Diver course materials you'll need are the
manual, Recreational Dive Planner, Open Water Diver DVD and diver log book. These are delivered to you after you sign up for a class.
